Days 17-22 - part 2
Oh man, we’re still going…
Day, 17: Finally closed up all the walls in the bathroom! So my Dad worked on taping and mudding it to prepare for texture, prime and paint. We sort of figured out the flooring - the key is to lightly tap it in (well….stay tuned because it still gave us problems later).
Day 18: Installed plywood for countertop installation! Kitchen looks pretty good - we finished the flooring, installed the toe kicks, and the kitchen light fixture.
Day 19: Bathroom is coming along! We shot some texture and primed the walls in the bathroom and part of the kitchen and we also installed some finishing touches like quarter rounds and trim around the cabinets. I also started changing the outlets and light switches, ugh, the first light switch I changed took me almost 3 hours because the wiring is stiff, the box in the wall is small (which can’t be changed because the main walls are concrete) and the new outlets with USB ports are ginormous and can barely fit!
Day 20: The electrical outlets and switches are so time consuming and it’s a steep learning curve for me - the first one took me over 3 hours because it was problematic but the last one took me only 20 min!, patching kitchen cabinet area, prepping bathroom?
Day 21: My cousin came to do the last of the electrical - installing new switches in the bathroom! I had to figure out the cover for the center light fixture in the bathroom because we have an external wire running to it (ways NOT to cut off your fingers: use clamps).
Day 22: Flooring, flooring, and more flooring! My Dad finished installing the handles on the kitchen cabinets and drawers!
